The Highmark Caring Place is a compassionate haven for grieving children, adolescents, and families in Allegheny County. Offering free peer support programs, counseling, and resources, it provides a safe space to navigate loss, fostering healing and resilience amidst grief’s challenges.

Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas

Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas support to families free of charge during the birth of your baby by miscarriagestillbirth, or life-limiting diagnosis.  They will also guide you through your options, suggest ways to honor and remember your baby, and help you find the support you need afterwards as you grieve.

Heritage Valley Health System

Prenatal & Infant Loss Support Group is facilitated by a staff member of the hospital’s maternal/child patient center and comprised of parents who have lost their babies, either through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or infant death.

Jane’s Room: Bereavement at Magee

Jane’s Room is a bereavement room at Magee for women and families who have lost their babies or are in perinatal hospice and palliative care. Located outside of the 2600 unit on the 2nd floor of the Birth Center it provides a quiet and private place away from labor and delivery waiting areas

Sometimes, it can help to talk with a caring professional about pregnancy loss, its impact, and the grieving that follows. Call the UPMC Magee Social Work Department at 412-641-4255 .

Forward Wellness

Forward Wellness specializes in reproductive mental health services for families, specializing in pregnancy loss, birth trauma, fertility issues, perinatal mood disorders.  Space is very limited with clinicians who can accept UPMC as well as Highmark BC/BS. They also offer sliding scales of $70-$100 with availability in 2 weeks or less.

Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care

UPMC Children’s Hospital Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care offers supportive care to children with life-threatening illness and their families. Apart of that care is a ‘Bereaved Parent Virtual Support Group‘ hosted by Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care using the Microsoft Teams app the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8 PM,

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Olivia’s Angels Perinatal Palliative Care Program offers specialized support and compassionate care for families navigating the heartbreaking experience of perinatal loss and palliative car for babies by providing comfort and guidance throughout their journey.

Star Legacy Foundation

Star Legacy Foundation provides free online support groups held virtually.
